As an ACECQA (Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority) approved course, Childcare First Aid is specifically designed for the childcare and education sectors. This Childcare First Aid course goes beyond the bounds of the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course gives specific examples and demonstrations of how an emergency first aid response should be provided within an education and childcare setting.

Approved by ACECQA, HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting has been certified validated as sufficient training in asthma and anaphylaxis, First Aid, First Aid Kits, as well as in-depth training on managing asthma and anaphylaxis, how to use an EpiPen, and how to follow the DRSABCD protocol on Adults, Children and Infants.

On successful completion of the course, participants receive a nationally accredited and recognised certification in basic emergency life support, CPR, first aid, and childcare first aid.

On the Day after Successful Completion of the First Aid Training Course:

Our team at First Aid Pro Perth pride ourselves on offering excellent customer service for our clients. For complete facilitation and ease, we work hard and go to great lengths to make sure that all candidates who successfully complete the HLTAID004 – Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting course, HLTAID003 – Provide First Aid , HLTAID002 – Provide basic emergency life support (BELS) course, and HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (T&C), receive the fully nationally accredited certificates on the same day of completing their first aid training, or within 24 hours.

The certificates are electronically issued and will be sent to the email address used for course registration. An additional fee of $12.00 will be charged for paper copies of the certificate (this includes the postage charges).

It is important to note that in order for the certification to be issued, you must supply the USI number and completed enrolment form, failure to do so within the allotted time can result in a delay in issuing the course completion certificate. (T&C)

  • performed at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor
  • Performed at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles both compressions and ventilations) on a child resuscitation manikin placed on the floor

For an effective, efficient, and convenient learning experience, First Aid Pro Perth has created streamlined learning materials to minimise the stress of online learning. Hence, self-directed, and self-paced mandatory pre-course reading, and quiz requirements have been put in place for the ease of participants to complete prior to the practical session and bring it to the training session. While designed to be helpful and easy to understand, the actual study hours required for the pre-course reading and initial quiz will vary from person to person. Most importantly, it depends on the existing knowledge, skills, and experience of the participants.

All students undertaking a Nationally Registered training course in Australia must have a valid a Unique Student Identifier (USI). USI’s only need be created once, and the number generated is yours for life. So, if have completed any formal study since 2015 it is likely that you may already have a USI that you can use. The learner will practice and demonstrate the ability to complete tasks in line with state/territory regulations, first aid codes of practice, Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines, workplace procedures, including safework australia recommendations.

The learner must demonstrate essential knowledge required to effectively complete tasks outlined in this unit, manage tasks and manage contingencies in the context of the work role. This includes knowledge of:

State/Territory regulations, first aid codes of practice and workplace procedures including:
  • ARC Guidelines for provision of CPR and first aid to infants, children and adults
  • guidelines from Australian national peak clinical bodies
  • safe work practices to minimise risks and potential hazards
  • first aid requirements for services under the Education and Care Services National Law
  • infection control principles and procedures, including use of standard precautions
  • requirements for currency of skill and knowledge
  • awareness of potential need for stress-management techniques and available support following an emergency situation, including the psychological impact on children
  • duty of care requirements
  • respectful behaviour towards a casualty
  • own skills and limitations
  • consent, including situations in which parental/caregiver consent is required
  • privacy and confidentiality requirements
  • importance of debriefing
  • how to recognise a person is not breathing normally
  • chest
  • infant respiratory systems and implications for provision of CPR
  • basic anatomical differences between adults and children, and the implications for provision of first aid
